How to cook the perfect pasta

Here are some tips to help you cook perfect pasta:

  1. Use a large pot: The more water you have, the less likely your pasta will stick together. A good rule of thumb is to use 4-6 quarts of water per pound of pasta.

  2. Salt the water: Adding salt to the water will help enhance the pasta's flavor. A good rule of thumb is to use 1-2 teaspoons of salt per quart of water.

  3. Bring the water to a rolling boil: Wait until the water is boiling rapidly before adding your pasta.

  4. Add the pasta: Add your pasta to the boiling water and stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

  5. Cook according to package instructions: Check the package instructions for the recommended cooking time and start checking for doneness a minute or two before the time is up.

  6. Reserve some pasta water: Before draining the pasta, reserve some of the cooking water. This starchy water can be added to your sauce to help thicken and bind it.

  7. Drain the pasta: Once the pasta is cooked to your liking, drain it in a colander.

  8. Toss with sauce: Add the cooked pasta to your favorite sauce and toss to combine. If the sauce is too thick, add some of the reserved pasta water to thin it out.

  9. Serve and enjoy: Divide the pasta between plates or bowls and serve immediately. Enjoy your perfectly cooked pasta!
